At least two golf clubs are fed up with the Mafia, a betting format
which prohibits the taking of a free drop - even those permitted
by local rules. Therefore, if a sprinkler head or young plant is
in their swing path, these golfers still let fly. Similarly,
Ground Under Repair signs, cart paths and buggies are ignored.
With big bets at stake, the Mafia golfers are not prepared to take
a penalty drop.
Said one club general manager: "What we have to do is to circulate
the names of the Mafia clowns to all clubs and impose an
island-wide ban. Perhaps they don't realise the damage that
they are doing with their selfish bets."
